I used to own a bookshop and ended up with a large collection of books that I just had to have. I also come from a family that cherished books. For my Bar Mitzvah I received not toys or fountain pens, but beautiful books that grace my bookshelves for a lifetime, even though the books were in Hungarian and no one could read them. Then we had to move into a retirement home and the books, most of them, had to go. I am lucky that I have a small car and a large garage, so there is room for bookshelves on either side, but I am working on giving as many books away, one, or a few at a time, to people who would appreciate them.
